1860 Census Anderson C. and Polly (Runyon) Hatfield

1850 Census:  George and Nancy (Whitt) Hatfield, family continued on to next page, see below.

1850 Census (page 2) showing from George Hatfield's household:  starting with James, Anderson is listed as "Andrews" here, just a mistake by census taker.

*Note:  Censuses from 1840 and before only have the name of the head of the household.  They then go on to list the "free white persons" of the home within certain age ranges and separated by gender (m/f), and then go on to list the "slaves" if there were any.  I have checked all of these though with other sources and we can be pretty sure that these are our people.  :)

*  In the 18200 US Census, there is one Ephraim Hatfield living in Russell County, Virginia, which is where our Ephraim (Eaf of them all) was born, but it only shows 5 people total.  In 1820, Eaf and Annie would have still had five children under the age of 16/15 that should have been at home.  However, this could be our family, but it's hard to tell without the names of the children provided.  It's pretty sure it's ours, since it's the only one in an area that our family lived in, but until I can verify absolutely, I won't follow that lead.  :)  There are only about 160 Hatfields recorded in the US at that time by the census, and I will be on the search for proof that this is our guy, but like I said, I am about 98% positive that it is.  :)

*  In the 1810 US Census there are no Ephraim Hatfields listed, although ours would be about 45 years old that year (b. 1765).  Again, I will keep looking, but these older censuses aren't really very helpful.  When I find proof of our link, I will certainly share it!
